This Walking the Galloway Hills Guidebook describes 34 day walks and one long-distance route in the wild and remote hills of Galloway, in Southern Scotland. Although there are some shorter and easier routes, many of these hill walks are long and on rugged terrain, so are more suitable for experienced walkers. Each walk is graded from 1 (good paths) to 5 (rugged pathless ground).

For each walk there is a detailed route description accompanied by by clear OS mapping at a scale of 1:50,000 and photographs. Key information such as distance, time, and ascent are also given.

The walks cover a wide variety of landscapes, and include: Galloway Forest Park; Merrick (the highest point of Southern Uplands); 28 tops over 2000ft with 4 Corbetts (over 2500ft ); 31 lochs and lochans; plus Rivers and ancient woodland.
