Walking and Hiking in Turkey

The best long distance walking paths in Turkey are the Lycian Way and St. Paul Way. There are also many local walking paths that are waymarked that provide a network of treks and hikes of varying length and difficulty.

Walking the Lycian Way

The Lycian Way is 540km long that starts at Oludeniz near Fethiye and finishes at Geyikbayiri near Antalya. The trail generally follows the coast, though in places it hugs cliff faces, or moves inland through forests and mountains. Cedar forest on Tahtali Dagi is the highest point of the Lycian Way. The route is waymarked and mainly follows old Roman roads, footpaths and mule trails.

The Lycian Way passes through some major tourist centres such Demre and Kas, where there are many more options to go walking and have a walking holiday.
