Description
This guidebook by Rockfax describes some of the popular sport climbing areas in the Cote d’Azur region of France. This area is the southern coast of France between Marseille and Monaco near the Italian border. In total 10 major sport climbing areas are described with over 2,700 routes across a wide range of grades. There are 299 routes below F4c, 1,061 between F5a and F6a+, 799 routes between F6b and F7a, plus 555 routes at F7a+ and above.
The areas covered by the Cote d’Azur sport climbing guidebook are the Verdon Gorge, Sainte Victoire (near Aix en Provence), Les Calanques (near Marseille), Toulon area, Chateavert (Rochers de Bagaredes), Chateaudouble, Massif del’Esterel (near Frejus), Gorges du Loup (near Frejus), Saint-Jeannet (near Nice), and around the Monaco area.
All the routes are shown on colour photo topos with French grades. At the start of each area there is access information, GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas, plus a location map. There is also a good description giving a general overview of the crag and type of rock climbing to be found there.
