Description

This is a comprehensive guidebook describing the bouldering found in the Lower Churnet Valley in Staffordshire. The Churnet valley is situated close to the Alton Towers theme park, and all the bouldering is on good quality sandstone rock. The style of bouldering is often on many sharp pockets, positive crimps, with the odd pebble, and several slopers.

In total 10 different areas are covered including the classic areas of Cottage Rocks and Wright’s Rock, as well as the lesser known Farley Woods and Threapwood Woods areas. Over 600 problems are described across a good range of grades from Font 3 to Font 8a+, with many problems in the mid-grade range of Font 5s and Font 6s. All the problems are shown on colour photo topos and boulder maps along with a description.

The guidebook covers the following areas; Grasshopper Ridge, Cottage Rocks Area, Farley Woods, Dimmings Dale, Wright's Rock Area, Rainroach, Peakstone Amphitheatre, Threapwood Woods, Ina's Rock, and Alton Cliff
