New Deep Water Soloing in Provence and Cote d’Azur Guidebook

Along the southern French coast of Provence and the Cote d’Azur there are many excellent sea cliffs.  Recently these sea cliffs have been developed to produce many superb deep water soloing routes across a wide range of grades to suit climbers of all abilities.

The Calanques, near Marseille, is the most famous sea cliff in France and is one of the main DWS areas with routes all along the coast, including some amazing traverses.  Whilst the Calanques is a famous DWS location there are many other areas along the coast of Provence and Cote d’Azur.  These range from Côte Bleue, Marseille, Calanques, La Ciotat, Port d'Alon, Toulon, San Peyre cove, the Giens peninsula, the island of Porquerolles, the Estérel massif, Theoule, plus Nice and its Riviera.

A new Deep Water Soloing in Provence and Cote d’Azur Guidebook has just been published (revised 2nd edition) that describes 38 areas along the coast covering over 900 DWS routes, across a wide range of grades.
