Description

This guidebook describes the best rock climbing found in Portugal, covering the whole of the country from Meadinha in the north, and many crags around Lisbon to Sagres in the south. There is a great variety of climbing to be found in Portugal, from trad and sport, to bouldering and deep water soloing (DWS) – all of which are covered in this guidebook.

The guidebook describes 46 different crags across Portugal.  This includes the wild granite mountains of the Serra da Estrela, the famous bouldering at Sintra near Lisbon, limestone sport climbing at Redinha, and deep water soling at Sagres in the Algarve.

The guidebook is split 5 main areas, which are:

1) The north area covering 9 crags including Meadinha, Santo Tirso, Serra de Passos, Serra da Estrela, and Penha Garcia.
2) The central area covering 7 crags including Serra do Sico, Reguengo do Fetal, Cabo Carvoeiro, and Montejunto.
3) The Lisbon area covering 10 crags including Sintra, Casal Pianos, and Farol da Guia.
4) Southern Lisbon area covering 8 crags including Arrabida, Escusa, and Rocha da Pena.
5) Algarve area covering 12 crags including Rocha da Pena and Sintra.

Thousands of routes and boulder problems are described in this guidebook. All the routes are shown on colour topos, and all the bouldering problems are shown on boulder maps. At the start of each crag there is an approach map and a QR code for the parking area.  Symbols are used to described the orientation of the crag, altitude, approach time, maximum height of the routes, and if the crag is child friendly.  There is also a table showing the number of routes for each garde.
