Cresciano Bouldering Guidebook
This is a definitive guidebook covering the granite bouldering at Cresciano in Ticino region of southeast Switzerland. It also includes the smaller bouldering areas of Osogna, Claro, Preonzo, Prosito, Lodrino, Biasca and Malvaglia that are close to Cresciano. In total the guidebook covers 27 sectors and 1,850 boulder problems from Fb3 to Fb8c+.
Cresciano will forever be infamous with the iconic Dreamtime boulder problem that was graded as the World’s first 8c problem (later downgraded to 8b+). Today Cresciano has become a 'must-visit' venue for keen boulderers due to easy access and excellent quality of the rock providing problems across a wide range of grade. The wide variety of styles has everything from slabs to overhangs, and many crimpy walls. Though it is possible to boulder all year-round the best time to boulder at Cresciano is from September to April.
All the problems are shown on photo diagrams, with symbols indicating the style of the problem, such as if it is a sit start, has rounded holds, or fingery climbing. At the start of each sector there are extensive boulder overview maps and a bar chart provides an overview of the number of problems in each grade range.
Published in December 2023 (revised 5th edition) this guidebook is in Italian, German, and English text throughout.
