Description

This is the most comprehensive guidebook describing move than 250 traditional routes and 25 of the best clean aid climbs (i.e. climbed on hand-placed gear - no need for a hammer or pegs) at Zion National Park. The climbing here provides some of the best adventure rock climbing in Utah with hundreds of routes between 800’ and 1,500’ long (250m to 500m). The style of climbing is on steep vertical big walls with many routes around 1000’ long (over 300m). With regards to protection the majority of the routes require traditional gear such as cams though the belays are usually bolted.

The areas covered are; Mt. Kinesava, Moroni, Temple of Sinawava, Ceberus Gendarme, Red Arch Mountain, West Temple, Isaac, Cathedral Mountain, The Organ, Moonlight Buttress, and Mountain of the Sun. The guidebook also gives information on the park's most popular bouldering areas including The Globe Boulder, Drilled Pocket Boulder & Pine Creek Boulder.

At the start of each area there is a good location map, including approach time and the best time of the year to climb. All of the routes are shown on both colour photo-topos and traditional hand-drawn topos, along with a detail description including what gear is required.

Published by Supertopo September 2009, this guidebook is in English text. There are many stunning action photographs and a compilation of stories, maps, and historical information.
