Supramonte of Baunei and Selvaggio Blu Walking Guidebook

This guidebook describes 5 long treks across the Supramonte of Baunei between Santa Maria Navarrese (just south of Baunei) and Cala Luna (near Cala Gonone).  These treks range in character from “simple” walks which lasts a few days with overnight stays in organized huts, to the more difficult treks which for six days such as the famous Selvaggio Blu where you have to carry everything with you, including water.  These more complex treks can involve sections of via ferrate, easy climbing, exposed ledges, and arduous paths covered in vegetation with no signposts.

The 5 long distance treks are:

1. De Barracu in Barracu
2. Su Accargiu
3. Selvaggio Blu
4. Areste
5. Filu Pendere

Each trek is described in incredible detail, along with many maps and GPS waypoints.  All aspects of safety and planning are dealt with including bivouac places, escape routes, areas to collect supplies such as water, and emergency recovery points including where telephone reception is better.

There is a separate map for each day of the trek along with a detailed description.  This includes overall difficulty, height gained, total distance, estimated time to complete the stage, and an overview of the terrain covered (from ancient pastoral sheep trails to mule tracks).  Information is also given regarding rock climbing sections and abseils required for the more difficult treks.

Published in July 2020 this guidebook is in English text and includes many stunning photographs of the Supramonte landscape.
