Schweiz Plaisir Sud Guidebook Volume 1

Description

The Schweiz Plaisir Sud Volume 1 guidebook describes the rock climbing and sport climbing in the Southern Swiss Alps and the Northern Italian Alps. The guidebook is split into 4 sections covering the following areas:

1) Val d’Ossola in Italy – This region is to the north of Lake Maggiore around the town of Domodossola.
2) Tessin in Switzerland – This region in southeast Switzerland includes the towns of Bellinzona and Lugano.
3) Lecco in Italy – This region is near Lake Como.
4) Chiavenna to Bergell in Italy – This region is to the north of Lake Como, and includes the Mello Valley.

In total 46 separate crags are detailed, covering routes at grades up to F6c. The style of routes range from single pitch sport routes to long alpine style multi-pitch routes up to 700m long, with many of these routes around 300m long. All the routes are shown on either detailed topo diagrams or photo topos.

For each of the 4 main regions covered there is an overview map along with a description of the general character of the climbing to be found. For each of the 46 crags there is a location map, along with useful information such as altitude, when the crag is in the sun and the style of climbing to be found. Further information is given on the type of equipment required, from the type of traditional gear to the number of quickdraws for the sport routes. GPS co-ordinates are also given for the parking areas.
