Rjukan Selected Ice Climbs Guidebook
Description
This Rjukan Selected Ice Climbs guidebook describes 220 of best ice climbs at Norway’s most famous ice climbing destination – Rjukan. The guidebook describes a wide range of ice routes, across all grades, with everything from roadside single pitch routes to 17 pitch adventures and multi-pitch test-pieces.
Amongst the various sectors of the main Rjukan gorge you'll find some of Norway's most famous ice routes, from the intimidating test-piece climbs in the majestic Upper Gorge, to the fantastically accessible icefalls at Vemork Bridge, and the pleasant cragging in the Lower Gorge.
Away from the confines of the gorge are the steep valley walls of Svadde and Bolgen that are above Rjukan town centre. These walls offer long multi-pitch climbs up to 17 pitches in length, some of which are even floodlit at night.
Further afield, are the remote and committing amphitheatres of Mael and Kong Vinter that provide some multi-pitch routes. In contrast the roadside ice crags of Ozzimosis and Krokan rank amongst the most famous ice climbing venues in the world.
All the routes are illustrated with colour photo topos along with a description. The guidebook details 220 routes split into 12 areas. For each area there is a location map, QR code for the parking and approach information.
