Oxford and Grand Union Pearson Canal Companion
Description
This canal companion describes two canals from the Midlands to Southern England, the Oxford Canal and the Grand Union Canal.
The Oxford Canal features in its entirety, all the way from Hawkesbury Junction on the outskirts of Coventry to Oxford, the City of Dreaming Spires. The Oxford Canal is one of the most beautiful and picturesque canals in the country, whilst its towpath is a designated long distance foot path too.
Coverage of the mighty Grand Union Canal commences from Birmingham and runs all the way down to Brentford and Paddington in central London (where it links with Pearson's Canal Companion to the Kennet & Avon and River Thames). The Regent’s Canal between Paddington and Limehouse is shown on large scale mapping to do justice to this historic canal in central London. Also included are the branches to Northampton, Aylesbury, Wendover and Slough. Additionally, the complete Leicester Section of the Grand Union is also featured, including the arms to Welford and Market Harborough.
The Oxford and Grand Union Pearson Canal companion uses large scale maps and diagrams that are accompanied by a wide-ranging documentary. It is of particular interest to boaters, walkers and cyclists providing descriptions of waterside towns and villages, listings on eating and drinking, shopping, visitor centres, public transport and boating facilities.
Published in 2023, this is the 9th Edition of this Oxford and Grand Union Pearson Canal Companion.
