Mont Blanc Granite Guidebook – Geant, Cirque Maudit and Vallee Blanche
Description
This is a selective rock climbing guidebook covering the Geant, Cirque Maudit and Vallee Blanche areas in the Mont Blanc range that are located mainly on the south and east of Mont Blanc. These areas offer rock climbers an enormous range of high quality granite routes, with elegant lines and huge walls. The guidebook covers some of the most famous spires of the Alps, including Dent du Geant, Grand Capucin and the Aiguille du Midi.
The cliffs in the Geant and Vallee Blanche have 2 major advantages: easy access via cable cars and their easterly or southerly aspects. As a result, many of the routes are in condition from late spring to late autumn.
The guidebook details 135 routes across the following areas: Dent du Geant, Marbrees – Vierge, Toule – Entreves, Tour Ronde, Androsace, Aiguilles du Diable, Clocher du Tacul, Chandelle – Trident, Grand Capucin, Petit Capucin, Adolphe Rey, Pyramide du Tacul, Pointe Lachenal, and Aiguille du Midi.
In total 135 long multi-pitch routes are described that are located high in the mountains. For each route there is a pitch-by-pitch description, recommended gear, information regarding presence/absence of in-situ gear, and descent information spread across a number of pages. All routes are shown on a colour photo topo plus a detailed hand drawn topo. For each main area there are location maps and access information.
