This is a selective rock climbing guidebook covering the best rock climbs in the Chamonix Aiguilles, located in the Monte Blanc range. The Chamonix Aiguilles are magnificent granite walls that are the jewel of Chamonix climbing and they attract climbers form all over the world.
The guidebook covers 16 different areas from the Aiguille de l'M to the Aiguille du Plan. It describes 93 routes, including all the great classics, the most aesthetic lines, and the Aiguilles’ famous long traverses. All these routes are easily accessible from the Montenvers Railway station or the Aiguille du Midi cable car.
The guidebook is divided into 16 areas. For each area there is a description of the character and style of climbing to be found, approach information, and a map. The 16 areas are as follows:
Aiguille de l’M, Petits Charmoz, Grands Charmoz, Charmoz-Grepon, Lames Fontaine, north summit of the Blaitiere, red pillar of the Blaitiere, West face of the Blaitiere, Peigne Slabs, Papillons, Aiguille du Peigne, Gendarme Rough of the Peigne, Aiguille des Pelerins, Aiguille des Deux Aigles, Peigne-Pelerins-Deux Aigles-Plan, and Traverse of the Chamonix Aiguilles.
In total 93 routes are described covering a variety of styles, from short multi-pitch routes to big walls and ridge traverses. For each route there is a pitch-by-pitch description, recommended gear, information regarding presence/absence of in-situ gear, and descent information spread across a number of pages. All routes are shown on a colour photo topo plus a detailed hand drawn topo.
Published in July 2026 (revised 2nd edition) this guidebook is in English text throughout. This new edition has been completely revised, corrected and expanded in light of changes to the terrain and feedback from climbers.
