Description
This is a selective rock climbing guidebook covering the Argentiere Basin in the Monte Blanc range. The Argentiere Basin is often described as Mont Blanc’s hidden gem with adventurous climbing high in the mountains on perfect granite rock. The guidebook covers 15 different areas and 99 routes around the Aiguille d’ Argentiere and Aiguille Verte, with many of the routes close to the Refuge d’ Argentiere.
The guidebook is divided into 15 areas. For each area there is approach information, a map, and a description of the character and style of climbing to be found. The 15 areas are as follows:
Charlet- Straton (Lower Butress), The Vierge, Plateau du Jardin, Rabouin, Aiguille du Refuge, Aguille du Genepi, Jardin Ridge, Plateau & Gardes, Minaret, Tour Jaune, Point Claudine, Amethystes, Pyramide, Pointe JMC, and Bayere - Pic Sans Nom.
In total 99 routes are described. For each route there is a pitch-by-pitch description, recommended gear, information regarding presence/absence of in-situ gear, and descent information spread across a number of pages. All routes are shown on a mixture of colour photo topos and detailed topos.
