Description

This comprehensive guidebook describes the rock climbing and sport climbing on the Lofoten Islands and Stetind, which are located off the west coast of Norway, around 200km north of the Arctic Circle.  The guidebook describes many long multi-pitch routes from a couple of pitches long up to 500m long, along with a number of sport routes.  The climbing is on excellent granite peaks that rise dramatically from sea level.  Not all the routes are long multi-pitch climbs on huge walls, as there are plenty of shorter routes on accessible crags with short walk-ins, along with some bouldering.

The guidebook covers 22 different areas on the islands of Lofoten, and details over 550 trad routes and over 120 sport routes.  Also included are 19 routes in the Stetind area and 145 in the Narvik area, on the mainland.  The climbing is spread across a wide range of grades are from Norwegian 4 to 9 (English, Severe to E8 or French, 3 to 8b).

All the routes are shown on clear colour photo topos along with detailed route descriptions and descent information.  At the start of each area there is a location map and a description of the style and aspect of the climbing to be found.  At the start of the guidebook there is a comprehensive section detailing the various options regarding travelling to Lofoten.
