Description

This is a selective guidebook describing Moab’s rock climbing areas, covering 1,000 of the very best routes in Utah’s picturesque red rock desert. All the main rock climbing areas around Moab are described including Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Castleton Valley (River Road).   This unique red rock desert environment is a world class area for traditional rock climbing on sandstone rock. It is famous for its magnificent towers and spires, soaring parallel cracks coupled with red orange vertical walls and slabs – all of which is captured in this guidebook.

All the routes are shown on either colour photo topos or detailed hand drawn topos (usually the multi-pitch routes), along with a brief description, including what gear is required and descent information.  The guidebook is split into 9 areas which are Highway 191 north (Tusher Canyon), 313 Road (Canyonlands National Park), Little Valley, Arches National Park, Potash Road, River Road (Castle Valley), Kane Creek, La Sal Mountains, and Highway 191 South.

Published in 2022 (2nd edition) by Sharp End Publishing, this guidebook is in English text throughout, and includes many stunning action photographs.  This guidebook is written by long-time Moab local Karl Kelley and is therefore full of excellent local information.
