Description

Magia di Calcare is the definitive guidebook describing the limestone bouldering in the Gran Sasso National Park. The bouldering here is situated an altitude between 1,500m and 2,500m and is one of the best places to go bouldering in the summer in Italy. Gran Sasso is located in the central part of Italy between the towns of Teramo and L’Aquila, and to the east of Rome.

All the problems are shown on colour photo topos, along with a description, as well as on boulder maps. The guidebook covers 5 bouldering areas in the Gran Sasso National Park, which are Monte Aquila, Vado di Sole, Val Maone, Vallone delle Cornacchie, and Valle del Monte. Also included is the sandstone area of Poggio Umbricchio that is at an altitude of 500m.

At the start of each main area there is an overview of the style of the bouldering to be found, access information and a location map. In addition there is a QR code and GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas. Symbols are then used to provide information regarding altitude, best time of the year to boulder, how good the parking is, total number of problems, and even the number of “safe”, “dangerous” or “death” problems should you fall.
