Description

This Pearson canal companion covers two of the most popular and long established circular canal routes, the Four Counties Ring and the Cheshire Ring.

The Four Counties Ring is a 109 mile / 94 lock circuit through the counties of Staffordshire, West Midlands, Shropshire and Cheshire - especially popular with hire boaters.

The popular Cheshire Ring includes the Trent and Mersey canal to the north of Kidsgrove, the Bridgewater Canal, the Ashton Canal, the Peak Forest Canal, and the Macclesfield Canal.

Two other waterways of contrasting character are also included: the Caldon Canal, which runs from the Potteries up into the Staffordshire Moorlands; and the Weaver Navigation, a former inland shipping route which pivots on the legendary Anderton Lift; one of the Seven Wonders of the Waterways.

The Four Counties Ring and Cheshire Ring Pearson Canal Companion uses large scale maps and diagrams that are accompanied by a wide-ranging documentary. It is of particular interest to boaters, walkers and cyclists providing descriptions of waterside towns and villages, listings on eating and drinking, shopping, visitor centres, public transport and boating facilities.  All the information the canal explorer needs in one beautifully presented and illustrated volume.

Published in July 2024 this is the 1st combined edition of the Four Counties Ring and Cheshire Ring Pearson Canal Companion.
