Description

This map shows all the walking and hiking paths and trails on the Lefka Ori Mountains (White Mountains) from its northern foothills to the Libyan Sea (Sfakia) in Crete, at a scale of 1:25,000. The map shows many hiking trails that crisscross the mountains including the E4 trail. On the reverse of the map there are 15 proposed walking routes along with a brief description.

The White Mountains are located in the western part of Crete, and consist of over 30 summits that are over 2,000m high, with highest point being 2,453m (Pachnes). These White Mountains cover a large part of western Crete and are wild with very few roads in and out. There is very little vegetation and the white limestone rock and the snow that lasts until the spring give this region its name.
