Description

This Cogne Selected Ice Climbs guidebook describes 400 ice climbs around the valleys of Cogne, Urtier, Grauson, Lillaz, Valeille, Valnontey, Valsavarenche and Valle di Rhemes.  Each area has its own unique charm and character, ranging from the hustle and bustle of the Lillaz cascades near Cogne, to the majestic icefalls of Valeille and Valnontey, and the wild, remote alpine routes of Rhemes, Grauson and Urtier.

The resort of Cogne lies on the edge of the Gran Paradiso National Park in the Italian Alps.  Cogne is one of the world's great ice-climbing centres as many of the routes are at about 2,000m above sea level, which means that Cogne enjoys some of the most reliable climbing conditions in the Alps.  Add in cheap flights and good road links, as well as spectacular mountain scenery, all make Cogne an ice-climbing destination not to be missed.

All the routes are illustrated with colour photo topos along with a description.  The guidebook details 400 routes split into 13 areas.  For each area there is a location map, QR code for the parking and approach information.

Published by the Oxford Alpine Club in December 2019 this guidebook is in English text throughout.
