Climb Tafraout: Moroccan Anti-Atlas rock climbing guidebook
Description
The Climb Tafraout, Moroccan Anti-Atlas guidebook describes the traditional rock climbing to be found on the north and south sides of the Jebel el Kest massif near the town of Tafraout (Tafraoute). Morocco’s Anti-Atlas mountains are a unique playground for the adventurous climber, where perfect weather, miles of superb quartzite and granite rock, stunning scenery and an enchanting culture combine to create one of the world’s most adventurous rock climbing destinations. There is everything from single pitch roadside crags, bouldering, to long multi-pitch routes on big walls and even the odd sport route.
This comprehensive guidebook describes more than 2,000 routes, from moderate through to E7 as well as a handful of selected sport crags with routes from F4 to F6b. This guidebook covers the best 100 crags across all of the main climbing areas, including The Ameln Valley, Sidi M'Zal, Jebel Taskra, Idaougnidif, Afantinzar, Samazar, Aouguenz, Tagzene, Tanalt and Tagmout.
All the routes are shown on colour photo topos along with pitch-by-pitch descriptions and British traditional grades. For the multi-pitch routes detail descent information is also given. At the start of each main area there is a detailed location map, approach information and an overall description of the type of climbing to be found. Plus, QR codes are provided for each crag, buttress and parking spot, making it easier than ever to find your chosen route.
Published in October 2024 (revised 3rd edition detailing an extra 100+ routes) this guidebook is in English text throughout. It includes excellent information on how to get to Tafraout, where to stay, along with practical and cultural information about staying in the Morocco Anti-Atlas Mountains. At the start of the guidebook there is a 'Crag Selector' table to help choose a venue based on various criteria.
