Alpine Ice 1 is a selective guidebook describing around 700 of the best icefalls in the Western Alps, covering France, Switzerland and Italy. These regions are known for their dramatic alpine terrain and host a wide variety of icefalls—from classic, well-known routes to hidden gems in remote valleys. The areas covered are as follows:
- 13 areas in France, including Chamonix, and the Erins.
- 16 areas in Switzerland.
- 22 areas in Western Italy, including the Aosta Valley.
All the routes are shown on colour photo topos, along with a description and descent information. For each crag, there is a location map and access information. QR codes are also given for the parking areas, and/or the start of the route.
