Rock climbing and Bouldering around Izmir

Buca is approximately 20km from Izmir city centre and located around this old town are 3 great crags; 2 that offer sport climbing, which are Kaynaklar and Gökdere; and a bouldering crag called Kiriklar.

Sport climbing at Kaynaklar and Gökdere

Kaynaklar is the oldest and largest climbing area in the Izmir area with over 200 routes, whilst at Gökdere there are around 100 routes. Together these 2 crags offer a wide range of routes with grades from F4 to F8c+. The compact limestone rock provides a wide range of styles from technical slabs and steep walls to caves and fierce overhangs.

Bouldering at Kiriklar

The limestone boulders are situated in a beautiful, forested location just outside the village of Kiriklar. There are over 60 established problems with easy access, quality limestone rock, and all in a peaceful environment under the pine trees. There are a wide range of grades from Fb4 to Fb7b+, with styles ranging from slabs to overhangs.
