This selective guidebook describes the best sport climbing areas in the southern half of England and Wales. In describes 101 crags covering Carmarthen Bay, the Gower Peninsula, Swansea Bay, the Welsh Valleys, Gilwern, the Wye Valley, Avon, north side of Cheddar Gorge, Portland, Lulworth, Swanage, Devon, and Cornwall.
The guidebook covers more than 4,600 routes across a wide range of grades from the easiest beginner routes to test-piece climbs that rank amongst the hardest in the world. However, though the guidebook is predominantly aimed at those climbing in the F5 to F7b grade range, with these routes given the most attention.
All the routes are shown on colour photo topos along with a short description. For each crag there a description of the type of climbing to found, access information, and a location map. Symbols are used to indicate exposure to the sun, how popular the crag is, if it is child friendly, and approach time. QR codes are also provided for the parking area and the crag.
