This is a selective guidebook covering over 250 of the best rock climbing routes in the South Lake Tahoe area. The routes are concentrated around the 5.7 to 5.11 range (F4 to F7a, or VS 4c to E4 6b) and covers both sport and traditional routes, of which many are multi-pitch. All the routes in this area are on fantastic granite rock that can be climbed all year round. Unlike Yosemite, Tahoe’s granite is more textured with knobs, dikes, and edges.

8 main climbing areas are covered including the famous Lover's Leap and Phantom Spires, plus Sugarloaf, Wrights Lake, Echo Lakes, Luther Rock, Luther Spires and Eagle Creek Canyon. At the start of each area there is information about the style and character of the climbing to be found, along with the ideal rock climbing season. There is a good location map along with detailed access information. All the routes are shown on topos, along with a description and descent information.
