Description

The Karst Edge Rock Climbing Guidebook describes the crags around Osp in Slovenia and Trieste in Italy. The Karst Edge is a band of limestone that runs from Trieste, through Slovenia, and into Istria in Croatia.

The guidebook covers 20 different crags (5 extra than the previous edition of this guidebook), which are:

- In Slovenia: Osp (3 different crags), Misja pec, Crni Kal, Crnotice, Risnik, Vipava, Vipavska Bela, Dolge Njive, Lijak, and Vitovlje.
- In Italy: Napoleonica, Santa Croce, Costiera, Aurisina, Grotta Caterina, Doberdo, Sistiana, and Val Rosandra.

The guidebook describes around 2,500 routes that are all shown on colour photo topos. The vast majority of the routes in this guidebook are single pitch sport routes, though there are also some multi-pitch routes, some bouldering areas (principally Vitovlje), and even some trad areas.

For each crag there is a description of the type of climbing to found, along with a clear location map, and access information. A graph shows the grade spread for the crag, and symbols indicate style of climbing, orientation of the crag, ease of parking, approach time from the car, popularity, and if it is child friendly. GPS coordinates and QR codes are also given for the parking areas.

Published in March 2019 (revised 2nd edition), this guidebook is in Slovenian and English text throughout. Important access information is also in German, French, Croatian, and Italian text. The guidebook is written with a sense of humour that combined with some history and trivia, make this a fun and very complete guidebook of the crags around Osp in Slovenia and Trieste in Italy.
