Description
Ísafjörður (Isafjordur) is located in northwest Iceland in the Westfjords. This comprehensive guidebook describes over 980 boulder problems within a 10km radius of the town of Ísafjörður on andesitic and rhyolitic rock.
The grades range from VB (Fb3) to V8 (Fb7d), with many problems in the V0 (Fb4) to V4 (Fb6b+) range. The area is highly suitable for beginner and intermediate climbers with more potential for harder lines on numerous projects and unclimbed boulders.
The guidebook is split into 8 major areas from just outside the town of Ísafjörður to along the coast and on sides of mountains that surround the town. The best time of the year to boulder at Ísafjörður is from May through to October. From mid-May to late July, you will even have 24 hours of light.
All the boulder problems are shown on colour photo topos along with a short description. For each of the 8 areas there is a location map, approach information, GPS co-ordinates for the parking area, and approach time. The total number of problems are also given for each grade range. The main boulders are also shown on a detailed boulder map.
