Description

This is the definitive guidebook covering the rock climbing in Central Wales between Pembroke to the south and Cader Idris to the north. The guidebook covers the rock climbing and bouldering across mountain crags, rocky outcrops, sea cliffs, and quarries of Elenydd in mid-Wales. The guidebook is split into 7areas, which are:

- North Ceredigion Coast around Aberystwyth
- South Ceredigion Coast around Cardigan and New Quay
- Pumlumon area around Ponterwyd
- Cwn Elan (Elan Valley)
- Upper Wye Valley around Rhayader
- Upper Severn Valley around Llanidloes
- Llyn Brianne around Llandovery

This guidebook details 620 routes and 240 boulder problems that are all shown on colour photo topos along with a description. For each crag there is a location map and a description of the style of climbing to be found. Further information is given regarding approach time, aspect, rock type and tides (if appropriate).

The Ceredigion coastline provides good sea cliff climbing on hard sandstone rock. The best climbing is found at Ynys Lochtyn and Pen Bills, where there is a good concentration of wall, corner, crack and slab climbing across all grades.

The popular Elan Valley with its huge reservoirs offers a wide range of trad, sport and bouldering venues. The 3 mains crags in this beautiful area are Craig Caban Coch, Craig Cnwch and Creigiau Dolfolau.

Published in May 2018 this guidebook includes many great action photographs.
