Description

The Attica Bouldering Guidebook is a comprehensive guidebook describing the bouldering found within an hour’s driving of the Greek capital Athens.  The guidebook covers 800 boulder problems across a wide range of grades from Fb4 to Fb8b+, as well as many unfinished projects.

The guidebook is split into 8 main areas, with the largest area being around Mt Penteli.  Hence the guidebook splits this into Penteli West, Penteli North, and Penteli South.  The other 5 areas are Marathon, Keratea, Filopappou Hill, Mt Ymittos, and Stamata.

All the problems are shown on colour photo topos along with a short description.  Symbols are used to indicate the problem’s starting position, and the type of climbing (power or endurance).  Other symbols are used to indicate if the problem is highball or has a bad landing.  For each sector there is a general description of the type of bouldering to be found, and a location map.  The what3words app is used to provide the location of the parking areas, and each cluster of blocs.

Published in 2025 this guidebook is in English text throughout and includes additional information relating to the history of the development, safety advice, geological characteristics, and best practices for preserving the environment.
