Rock Climbing on Gozo

Gozo offers some of the most varied and scenic limestone sport climbing in the Mediterranean, making it a fantastic destination. In total there are over 500 routes across a wide range of grades from F3’s to F8’s in 10 major climbing areas. The variety of climbing found on Gozo is enormous, with sea cliffs, inland crags and caves spread across this compact island.

Mgarr ix-Xini is the largest crag on Gozo with over 170 routes. This impressive valley offers steep, pocketed walls, creating a range of outstanding sport routes for all abilities.

Along the east and north coasts of Gozo there are numerous sea cliffs offering some excellent adventurous climbing. With crag names such as Elephants Head, Titan and The Underworld, these routes are not to be underestimated but often provide routes at amiable grades.

Sab Blas and Dahlet Qorrot are two beautiful little bays close to each other on the north coast. They both offer steep, high quality routes from F3’s to F8s. San Blas is the slightly larger crag with routes mainly in the F6’s to F7s’ grade range. Whilst Dahlet Qorrot is shady and cool, making it ideal for warmer temperatures, with routes mainly in the F7’s to F8’s.
