New Kalymnos Rock Climbing Guidebook
The new Kalymnos rock climbing guidebook is hot off the press. This 2023 edition is the most comprehensive yet, with new crags, routes and all the most up-to-date information included.
The beautiful island of Kalymnos needs little introduction as one of the most popular climbing destinations in Europe. There are now over 4,200 sport routes on Kalymnos ranging from F3a to F9a. This wide range of grades make Kalymnos an excellent place for climbers of all abilities. The breakdown of the routes at Kalymnos is as follows:
- Up to F5c+ - 882 routes
- F6a to F6b+ - 1485 routes
- F6c to F7a+ - 971 routes
- F7b and above – 878 routes
The rock at Kalymnos is top quality solid limestone, which is a little sharp in places. The style of the rock climbing has everything from stalactites and tufas on steep and overhanging walls to delicate slabs and pumpy walls with pockets and smaller tufa features. The vast majority of the routes are single pitch around 30m long. Additionally, there are several fully bolted muti-pitch routes up to 5 pitches long, plus an adventurous 11-pitch route to the top of the south face of Telendos.
