Walks and Treks in the High Mountains of Crete

This guidebook describes 87 walks in the Lefka Ori (White Mountains), Mount Ida (the Psiloritis range), and the Lassithi mountains of Crete. For the walker Crete offers a diverse and beautiful environment that includes dramatic gorges, numerous peaks over 2,100m, high mountain plains, forested crags, massive cliffs and remote beaches.

The guidebook is split into 4 main regions, which are as follows:
A - Western Crete with 53 walks in the White Mountains and on the south coast, including 10 multi-day treks.
B - Central Crete with 17 walks and treks on Mount Ida and in the Psiloritis mountain range.
C - Eastern Crete with 12 walks and treks in the Lassithi Mountains
D – Walks along the E4 Cretan Trail.

The 87 walks described in this guidebook range from 2km to 28km long. Each walk is graded, with Grade A referring to short easy walks to Grades D and E that are more demanding day walks on remote and rugged terrain which require good navigational and walking experience. There is a full description and map for each walk.
