Ulassai and Jerzu Rock Climbing Guidebook

This is a comprehensive guidebook covering all the sport climbing found around the villages of Ulassai, Jerzu, Osini and Ussassai in the Ogliastra region of Sardinia.  The best time of the year to climbing in the Ulassai and Jerzu area is from March until December as there are lots of shaded walls for hot days and sunny walls for the colder ones.

The guidebook details almost 1,300 routes across a wide range of grades, and contains all climbing sectors in Ulassai, Jerzu Osini and Ussassai. This is a superb area for the mid-grade climber with bulk of the routes in the F6a to F7c+ grade range. A breakdown of the number of routes at each grade is as follows:

Up to F4 – 45 routes
F5’s – 113 routes
F6’s – 456 routes
F7’s – 490 routes
F8’s – 143 routes
F9’s – 2 routes plus 41 ungraded projects

All the routes are shown on colour photo topos.  For each of the 4 main areas there is detailed access information, and an approach map showing the various parking areas.  Information for each sector includes the GPS co-ordinates and QR codes for the parking areas, plus symbols show the number of routes at each grade, orientation, approach time, if the sector is child friendly, and if the sector is affected by the wind. 

Published in 2023 (revised 5th edition) this guidebook is in English and Italian text throughout.  The profits of this guidebook are used for the bolting and re-bolting of routes in the Ulassai, Jerzu and Osini areas.
